Lindsay | Trash the Dress

February 2, 2013

The Trash the Dress concept is a still fairly new thing in Ireland and generally you find that nearly all the sessions are with the bride only. On the odd occasion the groom might take part like a Trash the Dress shoot I did a while back and but either way, it will make for some great images.

Being honest, I have only ever seen a a handful of sessions where the bride really does destroy the dress and again as much as it makes for great images, it is not everyone’s cup of tea. The idea of the session is to be able to wear the dress (& suit) and head to a location or locations that you normally would not have visited on the wedding day and get some alternate pictures. Some brides do go and have the hair and makeup done as if the wedding day was happening all over again whereas some would prefer not to.

So you can imagine my joy when Lindsay got in touch asking to do a session and that this session was to take place on a farm – bliss!!!!!!Lindsay 104 Lindsay | Trash the Dress

Weekly Picture Post

December 18, 2012

This is an image I took almost 5 years ago when I was starting out in photography. This picture was taken with the couple sat in front of french doors with a mesh curtain to help diffuse the lighting a little. I applied a grain effect to try and recreate the effect as if it was taken using 35mm film.

One of my all time favourite images!!!

Weekly Picture Post

December 4, 2012

As Halloween has just been and gone I thought I would share something that I did for the special occasion. I was asked to do a shoot of 5 girls that were all dressing up for a night on the town and wanted to get some shots done in all their fancy outfits. Oh boy it was such a laugh and the girls looked so amazing.

Since doing the last portrait session with Hildegarde, which can be seen here. Hildegarde was elected as the new City Mayor for Galway and as a result she asked to have have some new pictures showing the chain of office and I think we managed to grab some great images from the time spent together.

We were also very fortunate to be able to head outside later during the day and get some shots using the City Council office as part of the background. This makes a nice change from the usual corporate style headshots with a backdrop.

I recently had the pleasure of working with the very talented and up and coming Milliner, Susanne Oliver, showcasing her designs for her new web site.

I will add a couple of shots here to give you a flavour of the kind of creations she is able to put together for anyone is after a special hat for a special occassion.

I will provide all the necessary detailed information of all the people involved when I do the full post in a little while.

This shoot was a pretty exciting day all round as it was quite unusual in that Jessica until the day of the shoot had never had professional pictures taken of her before. Judging by the images we managed to get from the day it would seem like the total opposite, such a born natural!!!

We took these images at the beautiful Coole Park by Gort.

A huge thanks must go to Maja who helped in getting this day sorted, thank you Maja!!!

Quite a while back I decided I wanted to try and make my blog a little more interesting and not necessarily all about me me me (even though we all know it is  hahahaha). I had seen lots of different takes on this so I thought I would try and put something together that would appeal to the masses.

Even thought I predominately work within the wedding industry I also wanted to try and cover other areas that I think would be of interest to everyone which in turn will make it a bit interesting. I am also hoping that by doing these short interviews it will give a little more insight into the person themselves and get to know a little more about them.

The first interview will start this week and it is a very apt one considering the recent blog post I did about Shannon and Mike’s wedding here in Ireland.

As an incentive to get the ball rolling with this. If anyone can guess who will be my first victim candidate, I will donate €50.00 to a charity of their choice – best of luck!!!

I was looking to do a few portrait shots recently as I wanted to try out some new techniques and add some new images to the portfolio of course. I asked my good friend Maja, who is a great photographer in her own right, if she would be up for having a go on the other side of the camera for a change. She jumped at the opportunity and the day we decided to do the shoot she even brought a change of clothes which meant we could try some different styles. The shoot also served another purpose as as we wanted to get some shots of her so she could use them in the “About Me” section of her web site.

We had such a blast that we decided that another one was going to have to be done in the near future. The biggest difference with the next session is we are going to swap places with me on the receiving end of the camera especially as I mentioned I needed new pictures for my section too.
