The day started off nice and bright with a few drops of rain whilst driving to the hotel. But then what do you expect when you are living in a part of the country that has a 3rd more rain in the year compared to Dublin icon smile Sinead & David {married} | St. Eanna’s Parish Church, Spiddal & Twelve Hotel, Barna

The bride prep started off in the lovely and swish Twelve Hotel in Barna. What I really liked about the start of the day was seeing so many family and friends popping in and seeing Sinead and generally making the most of the day already, helped along with a glass of bubbly of course icon wink Sinead & David {married} | St. Eanna’s Parish Church, Spiddal & Twelve Hotel, Barna

Every now and then we do get great weather and of course a trip to the beach is a must

Just to try something a little different. I asked the guys in the lifeguard station would they mind joining in the fun and of course they jumped at the opportunity. One of them even said that in all the weddings they had seen using the beach, it was the the first time they had ever been asked to join in so it made it even more special for everyone.

Once we finished rolling about in the sand we headed over to do some alternative images using the woods as a backdrop. I love the natural light and the contrast of the colours against the bridal party outfits – gorgeous!!!!!

Oh yes it is, Oh no it isnt

January 31, 2013

Now that the pantomime season is finally finished, I can add these pictures to the blog of some publicity shots I took a while back of the infamous Anne Charleston for a role in the UK. For a lot of the old timers like myself, we all know her as “Madge Bishop” from the famous Australian soap series, Neighbours. After she left that she went onto play Lily Butterfield in Emmerdale.

I have to say I was really worried about meeting her, after all this was Madge, the woman who I grew up with for most of of my youth. But do you want to hear the funniest part of it all, actually she totally put ME at ease – go figure!!!  I’m sure she done more photoshoots than I have hot dinners but nevertheless, she was such a doll to work with. She was funny, had a great sense of humour and did whatever was asked of her, a true professional. Anne Charleston Aladdin 100 Oh yes it is, Oh no it isnt

Can you image the surprise from the bride and groom on the day of wedding when I turned up as it was something they had not expected or arranged. The reason for this was the photography was a present from Amy’s bridesmaid which I think was a lovely gesture.

It was a very intimate affair with only very close family at the service which was held at the Ramada Encore Hotel in Oranmore (since changed the name to the Oyster Hotel, Oranmore). Once that was over, we made our way to a local park for some fun and games.

Keeping with the theme of being out in the wilderness. But really to help me look forward to the summer the weather guys keep telling us is coming was a shot I took around June time. As I mentioned before, I had seen this kind of shot down before but had never tried it so I wanted to give it a go. Its not bad and yes it could be better but I think I will try this technique again when I have access to much prettier flowers.

I see a vast amount images on the web that provide inspiration in one way or another. With this in mind, I just wanted to try something a little different to what I am used to. So one day whilst out walking in the nearby fields, I saw this and thought I would play around and see what I came away with. Still unsure in my mind if it will ever come of anything but I like it either way.

Focussing on the eyes only, I was using a 50mm F1.4 for this shot to get that very shallow depth of field. This shot was taken in the kitchen of my old house in Oranmore using only available natural light coming through the window to my right.
